Prysmian to showcase at the European Wind Energy Conference “EWEC 2010”
in Warsaw
The group will be present with its comprehensive range of products and
services in Warsaw, from April 20 to 23, 2010.
Prysmian remarks its commitment to renewable energies and to smerter and greener power grids
by joining “Friends of the Supergrids”.
Prysmian Cables & Systems, leading worldwide player in
the energy and telecommunications cables market, will present its state-of-the-art range of
products and services for the offshore wind power industry at the European Wind Energy Conference
(EWEC 2010) that will take place in Warsaw (Poland) from April 20 to 23.
At its booth (Stand 1341, Hall 1) Prysmian will display its broad range of products and services
for the offshore power industry including submarine cable systems to connect wind mills among them
and to ensure the connection with the power supply network , both AC and DC with high power
transmission capacity (100-200 MW and above) and Prysmian’s TECWIND cabling solutions, a complete
family of products, witch include Medium and Low Voltage turbine cables specifically designed to
meet the unique conditions of the individual plant and installation area.
EWEC is one of the leading offshore wind conferences in Europe and it is a special
opportunity to engage in high level political debates, technical discussions, business and
networking. The exhibition visitors will be able to meet key players in the worldwide wind power
industry: manufacturers, developers, engineering and construction companies, power generator and
utilities from Europe, North America and Asia. Several indicators suggest a very active phase for
the wind industry in Europe: investment in new European wind farms in 2009 reached €13 billion,
including €1.5 billion for offshore. Despite the global recession, the wind industry continues to
attract new investment and is an attractive opportunity for clean technology (EWEA source).
In the latest years, Prysmian has carried out and completed several wind park development
projects such as Alpha Ventus in Germany; Gunfleet Sands, Ormonde, Walney I and II, Thanet and
Greater Gabbard (which is currently the world’s largest offshore wind farm) in the UK. With the
purpose of consolidating its market leader position, Prysmian has recently made important
investments to increase its production capacity to meet the growing demand for cables coming from
the offshore wind power sector.
Through its subsidiary Prysmian Powerlink, the Group is now active part of “Friends of the
Supergrid” a new organization born to promote and support the development in Europe of large-scale
direct current power connections (the Supergrid) as part of the implementation of the European
Directive for the promotion of the utilization of power coming from renewable sources.
Prysmian’s experts and managers will be available and pleased to meet customers and press at
EWEC 2010 to share latest announcement and products releases relevant to the offshore wind power
industry.
