Prysmian to showcase at OTC 2011 (offshore technology conference) in Houston, TX
a wide range of high-tech cable systems for the Oil and Gas industry.
The range on display will include innovative Drylam™ and Airguard™, special
solutions with enhanced
resistance characteristics, specifically designed for critical environments
Prysmian Cables and Systems will play a major role at OTC 2011 (Offshore Technology
Conference) in Houston, TX (USA) from May 2nd to 5th – stand 4963. The Group will be
present with its latest technological innovations specifically designed for the Oil & Gas
industry, including Airguard™ and Umbilical technologies as well as a wide range of submarine power
cables and flexible pipes.
As an outcome of the currently on-going merger, the new group resulting from the
integration between Prysmian and Draka will leverage on an extended product offering in the OGP
cable market, particularly in the US. The new group will also be able to cover both the
EPC and distributors’ sales channels. Both Prysmian and Draka will be present at OTC 2011, ensuring
outstanding presence of the new worldwide leader in the cable industry.
Prysmian’s product portfolio at OTC 2011 will focus on its wide range of Offshore and Plant
& Petrochem cables, which incorporate complex and integrated power, control and instrumentation
systems for chemical, petrochemical, power or industrial plants.
The range on display will include innovative specialties such as Drylam™ and Airguard™
Cable System, cable solutions specifically designed for critical environments, with
enhanced resistance to hydrocarbons and moisture aggression, reduced diameters and lower
environmental impact vs. lead-sheathed cables and with increased mechanical protection, lighter
weight, improved flexibility and shorter installation times compared to traditional armoured
cables.
To complete the available portfolio FP® fire resistant cables, Umbilicals and Submarine
cable solutions will be on display as well.
In the latest years the Group has moved a significant step forward to be able to offer a
comprehensive range of SURF products (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines), adding to
its current production of both Steel and Thermoplastic Umbilicals a production of Flexible Pipes
for offshore oil & gas extraction. The Company is currently involved in a four-year frame
agreement with Petrobras for the design and supply of a wide range of dynamic risers and static
flowlines, covering up to 6” diameter pipes, suitable for deepwater. The full production of
flexible pipes started in 2010, when the construction of the new production facility in Vila Velha,
Brazil, was completed. The new plant complements the existing plant dedicated to the production of
Umbilicals, opened in 2007.
Prysmian is strongly committed to develop and provide products and services for the entire
Oil & Gas industry, throughout the supply chain - from ESP exploration systems to refineries
and processing plants - as the ongoing contracts awarded for the major fields worldwide
demonstrate.
In addition to its well-known range of traditional products complying with the strictest
and severest international and local standards and specifications, Prysmian stands out also for its
commitment to innovations. This is confirmed by the consensus gained in the US and Canada
marketplace by the innovative Airguard™ Cable System (adopted mostly in oil-processing and
petrochemical applications for its outstanding resistance to mechanical stress and chemical
attack), which is becoming more and more the reference standard product in these applications.
Among other projects in which Prysmian has recently been involved in the Oil and Gas industry
both on-shore and offshore are some of the largest, most strategic and technologically advanced
developments such as the Kashagan Oil Field in Kazakhstan, Seadrill, Petrorig and Hull (series)
semi-submersibles and jack-up drilling units and the Shell Nanhai petrochemical complex in
China.
