ADIPEC represents an excellent opportunity to reinforce Prysmian’s strong presence in the
Middle East region, where the Company is already carrying out several strategic power cable
projects. The Middle East is a key area for Prysmian’s expansion strategy, especially in the high
value-added markets, where special products and services are required, including extra high voltage
and submarine cable systems, industrial cables for the Oil & Gas industry (onshore and
offshore) and fire resistant cables for constructions.
In the Middle East region Prysmian has offices and facilities in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and
Fujairah (UAE), Doha (Qatar) and Kuwait.
It is currently involved in high-profile projects for the development of power
infrastructures throughout the Middle East, such as the 400 kV power transmission project
recently awarded by TRANSCO for the connection of the Bahia and Saadiyat Grid Stations in Abu
Dhabi; the development of the first-ever submarine power transmission link serving Doha and the new
400 kV high voltage underground grid connection on behalf of Qatar General Electricity & Water
Corporation. In the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical and Chemical industry prestigious projects currently
ongoing such as the Livorno FPSO (Dubai Dry Docks), the EMAL Aluminum Smelter and the Borouge
Polyolefines Plant in Abu Dhabi, the QAFCO Fertilizer in Qatar (the largest fertilizer in the
world) and the LNG 2 in Yemen rely on state-of-the- art Prysmian cable systems.
These achievements again demonstrate Prysmian’s leading position and the validity of the
Group’s know-how and technologies in the development of state-of-the art cable systems and the
commitment to support global O&G companies with a wide range of offshore and plant &
petrochem cables, umbilicals and flexible pipes. Among other projects in which
Prysmian has recently been involved in the Oil and Gas industry both on-shore and
offshore are some of the largest, most strategic and technologically advanced developments
such as the Kashagan Oil Field in Kazakhstan, Seadrill, Petrorig and Hull (series) semi-submersible
and jack-up drilling units and the Pluto LNG in Australia.
