Cable Sealing
The sealing of joint cable entry ports is important, to avoid the
introduction of water to the joint which can cause damage to internal elements or reduction in
performance of the fibres and potentially subsequent failure. The traditional method has been to
use sleeving that is applied around the entry ports and, using heat, is shrunk down over the cable
and port and so blocks any interstitial spaces. The alternative is to use a mechanical sealing
method such as Cablelok™. This datasheet covers the cable entry sealing options for the FST, FDN,
FRBU, FML and UFC Joints .
