Introduction
With the advent of high bit-rate, long distances and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexed
(DWDM) systems, new singlemode fibre types are available that offer an improved capability over
traditional G.652 fibre in terms of:

• Longer reaches before regeneration (lower chromatic dispersion)
• System up-gradeability versus bit-rate
