Distributed PON

Passive Optical Networks (PONs) utilise splitter assemblies to increase the number of homes fed from a single fibre. In a Distributed PON, the splitters are located in various downstream positions around the network, typically in a closure or cabinet. Each unit would feed a local area and would also act as a network access point for drop cables. Sirocco can be used throughout this network topology for cost deferment and to simplify network planning/installation.

Features and Benefits
• Reduced fibre management at central office
• More effective utilisation of optical fibres
• Smaller outside plant used to house splitters
