Prysmian PRYSOLAR Born to face the unpredictable Cable Solutions for the Solar PV Industry

Prysmian PRYSOLAR | Born to face the unpredictable LINKING SOLAR ENERGY TO THE WORLD’S POWER NEEDS

3 The world is electrifying. Unlocking the massive potential of solar photovoltaic is crucial to achieve carbon neutrality targets. Global PV capacity is set to increase to 19000 GW and cover more than 50% of global electricity demand by 2050. Utility-scale solar farms are growing in size and operating voltage, and the geographical areas where they are installed are more and more subject to extraordinary climate events: extreme and unpredictable. The PV or solar cables are part of the Balance of System (BOS) in a PV installation and represent only 1-2% of the total installation cost. Nevertheless, they are critical system components, and their failure disrupts power generation. Extreme climate events like heavy rains and floods may cause cable deterioration and failure with negative consequences on power generation capacity, reliability of power supplies and return on investment. WHY ARE PV CABLES SO IMPORTANT? Prysmian Group has capitalized on more than 20 years of experience in solar PV cables to develop Prysmian PRYSOLAR, a new generation of cables designed to face extreme climate challenges.

Prysmian PRYSOLAR | Born to face the unpredictable Cable solutions made to last, no matter what climate comes your way Prysmian PRYSOLAR is our innovative solution, designed to face the most unpredictable challenges and anticipate the future. Designed for the interconnection of various elements in photovoltaic systems, including panel interconnection, between panels and string boxes or from string boxes to the inverter. Suitable for applications in/at equipment with protective insulation (Protecting Class II). EXTREME CLIMATE STRENGTH INCREASED OPERATION EFFICIENCY OF ASSETS RELIABLE RETURN ON INVESTMENT AND +30 YEARS LIFETIME SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN Prysmian PRYSOLAR PV cables may be installed as fixed or freely suspended, free movable, indoor or outdoor and also in ducts and pipes. They are intended for use in photovoltaic systems at nominal voltage rating of 1.5 kV DC. Estimated thermal lifetime extended to 30 years. Enhanced with long term resistance in water up to 1.8 kV DC. Long term immersion in water is a major cause of cable failures. This is why we have designed a first-in-theindustry test protocol that certifies long term resistance in water for DC cables. The better a cable withstands operationcritical conditions, the least likely it is to fail. Prysmian PRYSOLAR reliability translates into higher asset efficiency, reduced OPEX and lower Levelized Cost of Energy. A cable with long term water resistance guarantees reliability even in the most unpredictable events. Prysmian PRYSOLAR ensures +30 years lifetime. With the introduction of Prysmian PRYSOLAR, now Prysmian Group has the most comprehensive production and capability footprint suitable to serve every customer in every continent.

9 Cable failures cause detrimental impacts. Downtimes translate into reduced profits and increased losses. The better a cable withstands operation-critical conditions, the least likely it is to fail. A cable with long term water resistance generates benefits, namely in terms of Levelised Cost Of Energy. Climate changes are generating more and more unpredictable events. Solar cable standards still do not provide for long term resistance in water, which is one of the major causes of cable failures. A cable with long term water resistance guarantees reliability even in the most unpredictable event. Sustainability is not only an intrinsic characteristic of a product. It is also about the entire supply chain involved. With the introduction of Prysmian PRYSOLAR, now Prysmian Group has the most comprehensive production and capability footprint suitable to serve every customer in every continent. RETURN ON INVESTMENT RELIABILITY SUSTAINABLE SOURCING For enhanced operation efficiency of assets Prysmian Group offers tailored solar string monitoring systems based on proprietary PRY-CAM technology.
