Within the model region approximately 25,000 households, companies, public administration and more (from here on referred to as subscribers) exist in 17,250 properties (from here on referred to as connection points). All these connection points have been geographically referenced (see Figure 7) and comprise the basic data for all further steps. The next step was to integrate the access network information. For DSL the following network elements were known: • Central office • Street cabinet All of these elements have been referenced to a building or given a new individual geographical reference. Every building was assigned to the correct street cabinet. In addition, every street cabinet was allocated to its central office (see Figure 8). 12
