Analysis of the ownership structure by
geographical area confirms the predominance
of UK and US investors, who together held
more than 50% of the capital owned by
institutional investors at the end of 2012;
these were followed by Italian institutional
investors with 14% and French investors
with 8%. Compared with the prior year, the
weighting of Asian investors - particularly
from Hong Kong - has increased.
About 75% of the capital held by institutional
investors is owned by Value or Growth
investment funds that have a medium/
long-term time horizon. There has also
been a marked increase in the number of
shareholders adopting an Index investment
strategy, based on the principal stock indices.
This increase is consistent with the greater
weight of Prysmian stock within such baskets.
