SUSTAINABILITY
United Nations Global Compact
In line with the Global Compact’s ten principles, Prysmian has adopted policies and tools to safeguard the environment, human rights and workers’ rights while supporting the most vulnerable local communities. These tools include Prysmian's sustainability policy, which provides guidelines for all Group companies and business activities based on priority strategies defined in the medium- and long-term business plan and translated into tangible actions. The Group implements these guidelines through a set of stringent, transparency-driven annual targets aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and feedback received from stakeholders. These targets are set out in Prysmian’s Sustainability & Innovation Scorecard.
Prysmian's adherence to and compliance with the Global Compact principles are also reflected in its shared approach to business. This is based on honesty, ethical behavior and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. All the Group’s employees are expected to follow the same approach, wherever in the world they work and live. The related guidelines are set out in both the Code of Ethics, a kind of "Constitution" for the Group, and the Human Rights Policy, drawn up in line with the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
People have always been at the heart of Prysmian's ESG strategy. Prysmian is committed to developing an organization that prioritizes talent, skills, a broad range of experiences, different cultural backgrounds and, in general, all forms of diversity. In fostering such a diverse environment, Prysmian wants people to feel respected, valued and free to express their full human potential. This requires the recognition of diversity and inclusion as one of the main pillars of our corporate culture.
Prysmian's fully integrated ESG strategy calls on the Group to take tangible actions, reducing the environmental impact of its own activities and those of its suppliers, facilitating the use of clean energy as an enabler of the energy transition, and developing innovative products and solutions to help customers achieve their climate-related goals.
Prysmian reports to the UN Global Compact and its stakeholders annually on the progress made in the following key areas: human rights, labor, environment and efforts to combat corruption. This commitment is further evidence of Prysmian's transparency and rigor in striving to achieve its sustainability goals and reporting on them, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
