Ethical Purchasing

Our businesses rely on international supply chains that span multiple tiers. We work with our suppliers, partners and peers to drive responsible and ethical behavior and high standards across our supply chain, and do our utmost to keep everyone working in our operations safe from harm.

Aiming at developing a sustainable value chain, Prysmian has adopted a Code of Business Conduct, which is a document embracing the Group's responsible business practices by ensuring that ethical, economic, environmental and social standards are respected along the Group's value chain.

Every recurring supplier (Base Metals, Raw Materials and Non-Raw Materials) which starts a business relationship with Prysmian is required to be compliant with the Ethical Code and the Code of Business Conduct.
In this way, Prysmian is committed to ensuring that its suppliers respect certain standards within their operations relating to:

Moreover, the Group in the last years published the Human Rights Policy as well as the Conflict Minerals Policy (Specific to Base Metals suppliers mainly) which are additional documents that the suppliers need to acknowledge.
Conflict Mineral Policy

Furthermore, all our base metals recurring suppliers, even if not directly supplying to Prysmian one of the four 3TG Minerals, are requested to comply with the principles of Prysmian Ethical Code and are assessed on their Conflict Minerals Policy. Suppliers awareness and attention to our Conflict Free Supply Chain Policy will increasingly affect Prysmian sourcing decisions.

Prysmian is committed to progressively assessing its suppliers' respect of the principles reported in this Policy, through a structured process supported by audits with the aim of monitoring the supply base in order to prevent any violation and, if necessary, firmly take actions in order to identify any denial of human rights.

As expressed in Prysmian's Code of Business Conduct, if any violation of the principles occurs, Prysmian reserves the possibility to reconsider the future of the commercial partnership with the involved business partners.

Responsible sourcing of Minerals

We recognize the risks associated with “conflict minerals” – the term used to describe some of the raw materials used throughout the global electronics industry.

We are committed to contributing to monitoring sourcing trends within suppliers and towards a free, secure and conflict-free mineral trading environment as follows:

Identifying material and/or semi finished products sourced that contains 3TG;
collecting from all our recurring suppliers the origin of Conflict Minerals used in their process. Information is collected according to general international standards;
analyzing the data received and implementing corrective actions if necessary.

Child labor

Prysmian commits to the effective elimination of child labor in its supply chain and adheres to the principles established in the ILO Convention No. 138 and 182 in which hazardous work, considered as any work which is likely to negatively impact children's physical, mental or moral health, safety or morals, is prohibited to children under the age of 18.

The minimum working age should respect the age of compulsory schooling, and should be no less than 15 years of age. The group commits to providing decent work for young workers and ensuring protection and safety of children in all business activities and facilities, while reinforcing community and government efforts to protect and fulfil children's rights.
