Highlighting Offshore Careers and Apprenticeships
A key aim of this visit was to highlight the new routes into offshore careers. Prysmian has recently launched a dedicated apprenticeship scheme for Offshore Technicians in partnership with Middlesbrough College, where Prysmian has its marine base. The apprentice on the stand was on hand to share their personal journey and explain what it took to secure this exciting new position, giving attendees a relatable and inspiring perspective. The students showed great interest in Prysmian, with the team having in-depth discussions with around 20 individuals and their parents. The event generated inquiries about a wide range of roles within the organisation, including electrical, mechanical, customer service, and IT.
Prysmian first attended Dene Academy’s Careers Fair in April, where they engaged with around 200 younger students over two days, sparking curiosity about everything from finance and project management to the technology of cable-laying ships.
This second visit confirms Prysmian’s continued commitment to inspiring the next generation and highlighting the practical pathways available into the world of manufacturing and the energy sector. Their presence ensures that local students are aware of the valuable employment and development opportunities available right on their doorstep.
