On April 11 2019, Prysmian invited telecommunications executives to the second edition of NExsT Forum in New York City, for a day of brainstorming, roundtables and insight sharing. This edition, entitled Creating the Foundation of 5G and IoT, followed a highly successful first edition last year in Paris.

Together, guests strategized about realizing the potential of fifth generation networks (5G) and the Internet of Things. The events is based around the idea that sharing perspectives and experiences allows everyone to learn, grow, and successfully develop business.

The NExsT Forum provides a platform to explore today’s key connectivity, optical fibre and infrastructure issues through the views and insights of industry leaders, helping to shape the future direction of new technology development. Smart cities, 5G, IoT, data centers and FTTx are set to change the world. With this in mind, the Forum focused on 5G and related topics such as today’s main connectivity solutions, fibre and infrastructure issues, types of technology, business applications, required policies and, product and technology innovation, the digital divide, and much more.

As a global leader in fibre, and the world’s largest producer of telecoms cables, Prysmian Group has a deep understanding of this technology. The NExsT allowed us to share these insights and learn from major North American and worldwide telecom operators, independent associations, institutions and regulators. In this Special Edition of NExsT magazine, Prysmian’s publication on the worlds of broadband and telecoms, we’d like to share a number of insights gathered during the event.
