Coastal clean in North Berwick
Prysmian's spring cleaning journey began on 10 April at North Berwick in Scotland where two volunteers joined forces with a colleague from supply chain partner, Glenturas.
The event was hosted by the Scottish Seabird Centre as part of Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Spring Clean Scotland campaign. It wasn't just about picking up rubbish; it was about protecting the local marine life and ensuring the beach remains beautiful and safe for the community, and the thousands of seabirds that call it home.
Litter pick in Seaham
The momentum continued on 29 April down at Vale Tempest beach in Seaham. This time, the team joined Durham Council for the Great British Spring Clean. It was a true team effort, with three Prysmian volunteers working alongside four colleagues from supply chain partner PBU. Ten bags of litter were cleared from the beach, preventing plastic and debris from washing back into the ocean.
The power of volunteering
Across these two events, Prysmian teams recorded a total of 17.5 hours of volunteering, removing over a dozen bags of rubbish.
Alberto Pirovano, Project Director at Prysmian said "At Prysmian, we believe that building the energy infrastructure of the future goes hand-in-hand with caring for the communities we work in today. Seeing our teams and supply chain partners come together for the Spring Clean campaigns shows that it’s about more than just cables; it’s about leaving a positive legacy for the environment.
“A huge thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in.”
These mark the seventh and eighth litter picks the team has undertaken. In 2025, Prysmian worked in close coordination with the Scottish Seabird Centre and Durham Wildlife Trust; participated in six beach cleans, removing dozens of bags of litter to keep the coast clean and safe for everyone to enjoy.
