Building Connections and Innovating in Regensburg, Germany

Prysmian’s team working on German HVDC and Continental Europe projects gathered in Regensburg for an inspiring and productive meeting. Germany, located at the heart of Europe, has been at the heart of major projects in recent years and will continue to be in the upcoming years. This strategic location was chosen to host the event, emphasizing the importance of our work in this region in which Prysmian’s Transmission Division has some dedicated offices in Bayreuth, Würzburg, Düsseldorf, Berlin and Nordenham. The event also provided a valuable networking opportunity, allowing team members to connect and share insights.

Prysmian is playing a key role in developing energy cable projects that will transport the clean energy generated by wind power of the northern shores of Germany to the industry intensive south of the country. The innovative land interconnection projects, such as SuedLink, SuedOstLink, A-Nord, DC34, DC31 and the export cables connecting offshore wind farms such as Balwin 1&2, Dolwin 5, Dolwin 4/ Borwin 4, Ijmuiden ver-Alpha, Nederwiek 1 and Nor 11-1, will support Europe’s energy transition and will contribute to achieving decarbonization goals.

The event was an opportunity to review the German key projects in our portfolio with a value of € 11.5 billion, with more than 1000 people involved in the execution phase and highlight key investments in our factories, such as the new HVDC line in Gron (France), Arco Felice (Italy) and Pikkala (Finland) and installation assets, like the new vessel Monna Lisa and the two additional vessels under construction. The plenary session was also the occasion to discuss the latest market trends, their impact on our industry and how Prysmian’s technology is facing the market challenges to keep staying one step ahead of our competitors, ensuring a complete and efficient solution to our customers.

The projects team had also the opportunity to visit the intermediate storage area in Regensburg(Germany), where the cable drums for SuedOstLink project are stored and ready to be installed, marking a significant step forward in our project timeline. In addition to the site visit, the team participated in a team building event aimed at strengthening relationships across various functions within the team. This experience was both inspiring and motivating, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration.

Together, we are committed to driving excellence and delivering efficient solutions for our clients.
