To this extent, submarine interconnectors have a critical role to play in the exchange and integration of energy supply between countries all over the world .. There can be no energy transition without cable interconnectors, which transmit power under the sea or via underground cable systems, to create more integrated, efficient and sustainable power grids.

We can provide all existing cable insulation technologies, both commercial and proprietary ones, thanks to our R&D experience and in-house materials compounding capabilities - a unique characteristic for a cable EPCIM contractor. That includes lapped insulations - Mass impregnated (MI) and Mass Impregnated-PolyPropylene Laminated (MI-PPL) - and extruded insulations - XLPE and Prysmian proprietary PLaser insulation system, a fully recyclable material with a reduced carbon footprint and outstanding electrical performances. For us, innovation is a never-ending process: we aim at further increasing power transmission by enhancing voltage levels and operating temperatures as never done before.

New material development isn't limited to insulations, but we work also on solutions with superior mechanical characteristics to be used in cable armouring. This will enable cable connections at the record water depth of 3'000 metres, further improving our world record installations at 1'650m and 2'200m water depths.
