Prysmian will supply TECSUN cables for the largest solar park in Germany
The “Weesow-Willmersdorf” solar park, the largest in Germany, is located near Werneuchen in Brandenburg (approx. 26 km northeast of Berlin), on an area of 164 hectares. The solar park has an installed capacity of more than 180 megawatts and the energy generated can supply around 50,000 households in an environmentally friendly way and save 129,000 tons of CO2.
Prysmian will supply a total of 7,500 km of TECSUN PV Cable from Neustadt with an order value greater than € 3.5 million. The first cable laying work for the solar park should start in early 2020. The full commissioning of the approximately 470,000 solar modules is planned for 2020.

The conversion to renewable energies and intelligent infrastructure solutions is a core component of the company's strategy. “This solar park in its size gives us a powerful boost in the expansion of the renewable portfolio. We are intensifying the expansion of solar energy as our third pillar,” says EnBW Chief of Technology Dr. Hans-Josef Zimmer. EnBW also uses a number of balancing measures to compensate the impacts of the construction of the solar park and ensures that existing habitats are preserved for the domestic animal species. Shrub and benches hedges are planted, fruit trees are planted, stepping stone biotopes and grassland are developed, which form a natural complement to the animal and plant protection area "Weesower Luch", which is adjacent to the solar park in the south. In parts, grazing with sheep herds is provided for the maintenance of the areas of the solar park. The construction measures are planned so that the burden on the residents is kept as low as possible.
