Harnessing the power of wind
These three notable projects – awarded by Reseau De Transport D’Electricite (RTE) – confirm our continuing commitment to supporting smarter and greener power grids worldwide.
We don’t just make. We do.
Here at Prysmian we’re continuing to break boundaries for offshore wind projects by delivering innovative, sustainable and cost-effective cable solutions for this growing industry.
But we’re also doing
so much more.
From design, development and production to installation, commissioning and after-sales support, Prysmian offers a cutting-edge range of turnkey services for the renewable power sector.
And that’s why we’re the partner of choice for a significant contract worth €300 million to develop submarine and cable links for the transmission of wind energy from three wind farms to thousands of French businesses and homes.
Prysmian’s leading role
Prysmian will be responsible for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of two HV export power cable links, connecting three wind farms – Fecamp, Calvados and St Nazaire – to the French network.
These links will cover both submarine and land routes. Our submarine cables will be produced at the Group’s centres of excellence in Arco Felice (Italy) and Pikkala (Finland), and the land cables in Gron (France).
The submarine cable links will consist of HVAC (High Voltage Alternating Current) 220 kV three-core cables with XLPE insulation and single wire armouring. Delivery of the cables is expected between 2018 and 2020 (dependent on the schedules of the individual wind farms) with commissioning due to take place between 2019 and 2022.
A world-class cable-laying fleet
Thanks to our dedicated marine fleet, we can offer our customers a wide and versatile range of installation services. For this project, we will be calling upon our state-of-the-art DP 2 cable-laying vessel, the Cable Enterprise.
We’ll be bringing unparalleled expertise, unmatched production capacity and state-of-the-art installation and commissioning capabilities to this project.
