Engineers are wanted to support Prysmian’s landmark projects worldwide

Prysmian people pride themselves in providing innovative solutions to challenging problems no matter where they find them. The Group has played a key role in projects around the globe, bringing its products and systems underneath the deepest seas, across continents and into the most iconic buildings.

Committed to supporting energy transformation towards a more sustainable and interconnected power grid, the Group has demonstrated long-standing leadership and expertise across many fields where it operates. From providing solutions to offshore wind farms, to acting as a strategic business partner for the largest Transmission System Operators, as well as major developers.

Prysmian has set a number of milestone achievements in the offshore wind farm industry, providing subsea connections for: Borwin2 project, the first 800 MW connection to offshore wind parks and the largest VSC system; Sylwin1, the highest-ever rated system for VSC technology with a power rating of 864 MW operating at the highest commercially available voltage level of ±320 kV DC; and IFA2, a ±320 kV DC interconnection to connect Tourbe in France to Chilling in Hampshire, UK.

Most recently, Prysmian has been awarded the contract to provide the cable system connecting the mainland with the Kincardine Offshore Wind Farm in Scotland, one of the world’s first arrays of floating wind turbines.

With the cabling of the newly-opened Louvre Abu Dhabi, Prysmian added yet another landmark to its portfolio of iconic building cable installations – including the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building ever built, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, and the Shard, the tallest skyscraper in London and in Western Europe. Designed by starchitect Jean Nouvel, and Inspired by medinas and low-lying Arab settlements, the Louvre Abu Dhabi is the largest museum in the Arabian Peninsula – with its contrasting series of 55 white buildings, including 23 galleries, a temporary exhibition space, a children’s museum, a 200-seat auditorium, restaurant, café, and retail outlets. The Group provided 500 km of enhanced fire-resistant cables to ensure maximum safety to visitors and protection for the priceless artworks.

Such great achievements, that make countries and communities step forward, tell the true story of Prysmian as a world-class enabler

Despite its avant-garde technologies and solutions, Prysmian always puts people at the core of its approach. For the Group, the factory floor is above all, a manufacturing community, constantly committed to developing and sharing new skills and ideas; one that is always open to new resources that can breathe life into projects that have never been thought of before.

It is for this reason that Prysmian launched three years ago, Make It: a career development program conceived to introduce newly minted engineers into the cable industry, while offering them a unique, A-class training path in a truly international environment.
